Meet the Board: Our FuturePorts Officers will be leading the discussion

HAIC New President : Kat Janowicz


Kat Janowicz (Chair), 
a Long Beach-based leader in sustainable infrastructure and clean technology, brings a unique blend of engineering expertise and business acumen to her work. With a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Warsaw University of Technology and an MBA from the University of Warsaw, she has a proven track record in project management, international contract negotiation, and startup mentorship. Founder of 3COTECH, Kat helps public and private organizations achieve sustainability and resilience through innovative solutions in transportation, energy, and infrastructure. Her commitment to collaborative problem-solving and technological advancement drives her work in creating a more sustainable future.


Julie Avery (Treasurer) is an associate at Keesal, Young & Logan in Long Beach, specializing in business litigation, maritime law, environmental, and renewable energy matters. Her expertise encompasses environmental compliance (CERCLA, CWA, CAA, CEQA), renewable energy project development (EPC agreements), insurance coverage disputes, and employment litigation. She has extensive experience defending clients in regulatory enforcement actions and complex contractual disputes.


Mike Bush (Secretary) Moderator: is the Head of Marketing at Talon Logistics Inc. Mike founded Nomad Communications and has extensive experience in marketing, communications, and public relations across various industries. Mike has held leadership positions in companies such as CDL 1000, Envase Technologies, NEXT Trucking, Cargomatic, Fusion Public Relations, Articulate Communications Inc., and Tenerity. Mike also holds a degree from George Mason University. 

Special Guest

Sharon L. Weissman

Commissioner Sharon L. Weissman, Port of Long Beach Appointed in 2020, Ms. Weissman has served a six-year term on the Long Beach Harbor Commission, including roles as President and Vice President. She provides policy direction for the Port's $2.3 billion capital improvement program, represents the Port on trade missions, and serves on various committees. Previously, she was Senior Advisor and Transportation Deputy to former Mayor Robert Garcia, focusing on transportation policy and regional planning. Her extensive background in public policy also includes serving as Chief of Staff to both Mayor Garcia during his vice mayorship and former State Senator Jenny Oropeza, gaining expertise in budget and transportation matters.
